Ethical Considerations and Intervention Supports: Addressing Challenges
The purpose of this presentation is to review the NASP ethics code when considering intervention supports and services. Ethical standards will be explored in relationship to several challenging intervention scenarios. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss ethical dilemmas and how these might be addressed through ethical problem solving.
Assessing Reading Difficulties: Exploring Cognitive and Academic Assessment in SLD Identification
This presentation will examine cognitive and academic assessments commonly used in identifying reading disorders. Specific emphasis will be placed on reviewing subtests that help to reveal cognitive correlates of reading difficulties, and reading skill weaknesses. Discussion will be contextualized to consider the broader IDEIA criteria and impact on eligibility decision making.
AM Session – Reading Assessment (relate to SLD/Dyslexia) – 1st half – neuropsychological/cognitive aspects; 2nd half – academic/educational aspects (probably be able to work in some WJ-V pieces in this presentation)
