Frederick County Public Schools is located in the northwest region of Virginia, approximately 1.5 hours west of Washington, D.C., along the I-81 corridor. FCPS is the 21st largest of Virginia’s 132 school divisions and serves approximately 14,000 students across 21 sites, including elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as a career and technical/alternative learning center. Our division serves a diverse student population across rural and suburban communities and is part of one of the fastest-growing regions in the Commonwealth.

The Office of Special Instructional Services is deeply committed to inclusive practices, collaborative problem-solving, and the professional growth of our staff. Interns are viewed as valued members of our teams and are supported through strong supervision, meaningful hands-on experiences, and opportunities to engage in comprehensive school psychology practice.

At this time, we have one School Psychologist internship position available for the 2026-2027 academic year. This internship includes a $40,000 stipend for the academic year, allowing candidates to focus on professional growth while gaining comprehensive, hands-on experience in a collaborative school division. We would welcome applications from motivated graduate students who are eager to grow professionally while making a meaningful impact on students and school communities.

We anticipate two School Psychologist positions for the 2026-2027 school year, including one full-time position in a school-based setting, as well as an additional position serving on the Child Find team for the preschool population.

If you have questions or would like to learn more, please contact Todd Coughenour, Supervisor of Diagnostic and Related Services, at coughent@fcpsk12.net or Scott Gessner, Lead School Psychologist, at gessners@fcpsk12.net.
