Committee Membership

Membership in a VASP committee opens doors within the profession.  Some  benefits of being part of a VASP committee include, but are certainly not limited to: shaping the goals and advocacy for school psychology in the state of Virginia, supporting the use of best practices in education, learning a new skill, or making friends with those who share similar interests.

Presentation Opportunities

State Conferences:

Held bi-annually, fall and spring, the VASP state conference provides the opportunity to present on topics of interest or areas of research.  Questions about presenting may be directed to the President-Elect (located with an e-mail link under the "Leadership" tab).

Regional Conferences:

Regional conferences typically consist of two presentations, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Fresh ideas and reviews of new programs or materials related to the profession are always welcome.  Arranging to present at a regional conference may be done by contacting your regional representative (located with an e-mail link under the "Regions" tab and the "Leadership" tab).

Have you checked out the VASP Newsletter lately?

Our newsletter is produced bi-annually, with deadlines in March and October.  If you've done some interesting research, have reviewed a new book or assessment, have some experience with blogging, or an interesting idea, consider writing for our newsletter.  Research-based articles, editorials, and book or test reviews are all considered.  Articles may be sent to our Newsletter Editor (located with an e-mail link under the "Leadership" tab).

Become a web-author!

Dedicated space within our "Members Only" section is available to share resources created by state school psychologists.  Consider sharing presentation ideas, book reviews, and articles.  Content produced for fellow school psychers, teachers, students, and parents may be helpful to others and further best practices within our state.  Ideas for web-articles may be shared with the web-masters (located with an e-mail link under the "Leadership" tab).
